As part of the Information Science Trends (IST) Living online and offline, in darkness and light conference, the European Student Chapter (ESC) of the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) in collaboration with iSchools are seeking student contributions to an online ThesisIn3 event where students are invited to present their theses and dissertations research topics in three minutes.
This event is an opportunity to develop conciseness and effectiveness in communicating your research, encouraging student participation across disciplines in the Information Science and Technology field in a fun and inclusive space. The event will be run as a video entry competition,and you will be provided with useful resources and guidelines on how to prepare your presentation, with opportunity to gain some constructive feedback at the IST conference.
Students are encouraged to attend both as presenters and as observers and will be able to join virtually via Zoom. You can register for the ThesisIn3 competition here. Students are encouraged to present their thesis or dissertation research topics within a concise three-minute timeframe. Submissions, accepted in video format, will be eligible for multiple prizes, and commendation awards including Best Visuals and Best Explanation of Topic, etc. Winners will be notified prior to the conference and invited to attend the full IST conference. Their winning video presentations will be showcased during the event, with the ESC announcing the winners. The date for the presentation of the winning entries will take place 12.00 -13.00 (BST) on Wednesday, 10th July 2024.

Submission Requirements:
Students are defined as BA/BSc, MA/MSc, or PhD students within Information Science and Technology (including related areas such as Library Science, Archival Science, Data Science, Information Management, Digital Humanities and Human Computer Interaction).
Please submit a short description (max. 5 sentences) of the topic of your (3 minute) presentation and video entry via Google Form here. To attend as an observer/conference attendee, please register your interest here.
Submission Guidelines:
Create a three-minute video presentation summarizing your research. The presentation should be clear, engaging, and accessible to a non-specialist audience. Detailed guidelines are provided below support you through the submission process and to ensure consistency and fairness.
Video presentations should adhere to the following guidelines:
- Maximum length: 3 minutes
- Depending on the stage of your research, as appropriate, clearly state your research question, methodology, and key findings.
- Be creative and use visuals and storytelling techniques to capture the audience's attention.
- Submit your video entry by 12 June 2024 via the submission portal.

Judging Criteria:
Entries will be judged based on:
- Clarity and coherence of presentation.
- Engaging delivery style.
- Relevance and significance of research.
- Overall impact and effectiveness of communication
Prizes:
- First Place: $50 + 1-Year Free ASIS&T student membership* and winner certificate
- Second Place: $50 + commendation certificate
- Third Place: $45 + commendation certificate
*First Place winner prize T&C: For current and lapsed ASIS&T members, cash equivalent of 1-year student membership will be offered. Non-members will receive one-year student membership of ASIS&T.

Videos should be clear, concise, and engaging. Remember, you only have three minutes to captivate our judges!
